Bio-slime stripping agent

Bio-slime is a viscous substance formed primarily by the adhesion of colloidal materials and suspended solids in water under the action of heterotrophic bacteria. The presence of bio-slime obstructs the normal flow of cooling water and reduces the cooling efficiency of condensers. Bio-slime covers the metal surfaces on the water side of heat exchangers, preventing corrosion inhibitors and scale inhibitors from reaching the metal surfaces to perform their normal anti-corrosion and anti-scaling functions, thereby reducing the effectiveness of these chemicals. The slime covering the metal surfaces creates differential aeration cells, accelerating the corrosion rate of the metal. Large amounts of slime, especially algae, adhering to the surfaces of equipment in cooling water systems not only affect the appearance of the system but can also cause blockages in heat exchange equipment and corrosion by anaerobic bacteria.

Slime stripper is composed of bactericides, surfactants, strong penetrants, stabilizers, etc. It quickly penetrates into the slime bacterial clusters, oxidizes and decomposes to release bubbles, and combined with the action of bactericides and active agents, causes the slime to detach and be discharged with the water flow. This achieves strong stripping and cleaning purposes, making the surfaces clean and thus preventing under-deposit corrosion.

Slime stripper is mainly suitable for power plants, chemical plants, oil refineries, synthetic ammonia plants, coking plants, and oil refineries. It is used for stripping sludge and slime in circulating cooling water systems. Many systems, due to high turbidity in the makeup water, abnormal operation of rubber balls, and untimely sterilization and algae removal, inevitably accumulate large amounts of slime and other dirt in the pipes. In such cases, using a slime stripper is a very effective measure, particularly suitable for the above-mentioned systems.

Usage Method

The recommended concentration of slime stripper is 200–500 mg/L, applied shockingly at the outlet of the cooling tower basin. Based on the circulating water volume of the system, add 200–500 ppm, circulate for 24–48 hours. When the turbidity of the circulating water reaches a high value, stop the stripping process and begin water replacement to see significant results. If foam appears during the stripping process, add a defoamer. After adding the slime stripper, if contaminants appear in the circulating water due to stripping, promptly remove the floating matter to avoid secondary deposition. When used as a bactericide and algaecide, the general dosage is 50–100 ppm. Do not mix slime stripper with anionic surfactants or chlorophenol-based agents.

Packaging and Storage

Slime stripper is packaged in plastic drums, 25 kg or 200 kg per drum. Store in a cool, ventilated indoor area with a shelf life of ten months.
